Field Recordings:
I am by no means a professional in this department, and you can probably tell from the quality of the Sound Map recordings. For the sake of full-disclosure however;
- Portable Zoom H4n recorder (inbuilt mics usually set to X-Y 120º)
- Rode NTG-2 shotgun (mono)
- Matched pair Oktava MK-012 (stereo)
- Home-brewed Contact mics & assorted clamps*
- (Currently rustling up a batch of home-brewed hydrophones too!)*
Ithaca Trio:
Honestly, who the fuck knows what I use anymore. Its usually something acoustic running into something else to do with Max 5. Then slowed down.

* Jez Riley French, makes and sells his own contact mics, and hydrophones here which, to my understanding, are fantastic.
Mine however are all home-made using junk and various recipes from around and about. A particularly good manual for hydrophones (and contact mics) is over at Phase Space.
